Rules & Bylaws

Novato Horsemen Ground Rules

  • All NHI members are required to carry a valid membership card while on club grounds.

  • Access and use of NHI property and facilities are for members only.

  • Use of NHI property and facilities are at members’ own risk.

  • Only NHI members are allowed to ride, train or work equines on property.

  • Turnouts are allowed if no riders are waiting to ride.

  • Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult member or parent.

  • Do not tie horses on any fencing.

  • Do not leave horses unattended.

  • Livestock is not to be left overnight in arenas or round pen.

  • No riding while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs.

  • Horses are to be walked on grounds other than arenas or round pen.

  • Always follow riding etiquette and safety.

  • Vehicle speed limit is 5 mph.

  • No cleaning out trailer on grounds.  Please clean up any manure or hay you bring in.

  • Trails are open!  You may haul to the club grounds to park and then ride out from NHI via along the road.  Do not use the old access trails behind the clubhouse.

  • Please place garbage and recyclables in proper containers.  DO NOT LITTER.

  • Dogs must be on a leash or confined.  Please clean up after your dog.

  • Please sit on bleachers or in chairs, not on fences.

  • No member or guest shall deface, destroy or steal NHI personal or real property.  If any damage occurs, accidental or otherwise, the responsible party shall repair or replace. 

  • Members are responsible for their guests and must ensure they are aware of and follow all rules.

  • Individuals are responsible for their own horses and property.

  • Please report any damage to NHI property to the caretaker or a Board member.

  • Please remember to KEEP ALL GATES CLOSED.

Additional COVID-Related Rules

Anyone who is not vaccinated against Covid 19 must wear a mask when inside the clubhouse, according to California State rules.
