Membership
Joining Novato Horsemen is easy!
Fill out a membership form; then mail it in (or bring it to one of the monthly general meetings).
We require that new members attend a general meeting within 60 days of submitting their membership forms and fees in order to introduce themselves to the membership. We will then vote them in to make it official.
New members must have a sponsor who is a current NHI member in good standing.
New members will be featured in our monthly newsletter.
Applicants should submit with their application a brief introduction (i.e., a brief bio) and a couple of photos, which we will publish in the upcoming newsletter.
Some of the many perks of NHI membership include monthly meetings where you can socialize with other equestrians who never tire of talking about horses; use of the Novato Horsemen arenas; members may rent the clubhouse and/or arena private events (after at least one full year of membership); organized trail rides; gymkhanas, playdays and cattle events such as team penning and cutting; horse shows; a 4th of July parade; and clinics and FUNd raisers (such as the crab feed and haunted house).
All new member applicants must have a sponsor, and must attend an NHI general meeting and be voted in by the general membership. If a membership application is submitted by mail or at a cattle event, the applicant must attend an NHI general meeting within 60 days of the date the membership application is submitted, or the membership privileges and fees will be forfeited.
Generally, membership dues are payable January 1. Dues unpaid after the February general membership meeting are assessed a late fee of $10.00. Dues unpaid after the March general meeting constitute resignation of membership, and renewals are subject to the $50 initiation fee ($100 for couples) to rejoin.
